Three teenage boys have been killed after the car they were in crashed in the Scottish Highlands, police say. Emergency crews were called to the A830 south of Arisaig at approximately 11:15pm on Thursday August 28 following reports of a crash involving a white Ford Fiesta.
Tragically the driver and two passengers were declared dead at the scene. They are all believed to be male and in their mid- teens. However, formal identification has not yet taken place. Police are now conducting enquiries to “establish the full circumstances”. The A830 was shut overnight to allow crash investigators to examine the scene and reopened shortly before noon on Friday.
Inspector Donnie MacKinnon said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people who died as a result of this crash.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area and who may have dash cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
Lochaber High School in Fort William has posted a message to students, parents and staff on social media.
It said: “We are deeply saddened by the recent tragedy in our community. Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone affected at this difficult time.”
Lochaber High added that support services would be available for pupils and parents from Monday
The crash happened on a stretch of road near the Borrodale House hotel. Police, ambulance and fire crews raced to the scene.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted just before 11:30, and two appliances were sent to assist the other emergency services.
