Town with incredible beach has Spain’s ‘best’ all inclusive hotel | Europe | Travel

A stunning coastal destination close to the Portuguese border boasts Spain’s “best all-inclusive hotel”, a title it has claimed five times in recent years, with glorious beaches and rich cultural experiences on its doorstep. The Huelva province, situated on the spectacular Costa de la Luz, nestles between the Odiel and Tinto river estuaries along the Atlantic shoreline of the  Gulf of Cádiz.

It lies merely 31.6 miles from Portugal’s boundary. Approximately 18 miles from the town, visitors will discover Doñana National Park alongside the historic settlement of El Rocío, presenting tourists with an abundance of cultural and environmental attractions. The shimmering beaches and delightful weather of Costa de la Luz – reaching around 32C during July and August – enhance the appeal, making it ideal for a memorable getaway.

The settlement earned its Ciudad status through royal decree in 1876. It also houses Recreativo de Huelva, Spain’s most ancient football club.

Faro Airport and Seville Airport serve as the nearest aviation hubs to the city.

The municipal port provides weekly ferry services to Arrecife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The celebrated Hotel Barceló Isla Canela sits directly on the seafront, perfectly positioned for those wanting both entertainment and tranquillity.

It boasts remarkable amenities, including multiple swimming pools and adjacent golf facilities.

The establishment follows the classic architectural style of traditional Andalusian settlements. From around 80 euros – just over £67 – a night depending on the season, the Barceló Isla Canela promises to deliver a five-star experience for every budget.

Its 349 rooms span from intimate doubles to family suites boasting generous balconies.

This accolade is far from a one-off achievement.

The Hotel Barceló Isla Canela secured recognition from the World Travel Awards as Spain’s finest all-inclusive destination in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023, underlining its outstanding standards and service quality.

The establishment also received a nomination in 2022.

The World Travel Awards are regarded as the “Oscars of tourism,” according to El Confidencial.
