Research by Accor rated the top five dog-friendly cities based on several factors, including the number of dog-friendly eateries, parks, and accommodation options across UK destinations. With more venues and public spaces now welcoming pets, it’s now simpler to plan a getaway that includes your four-legged companion.

Whether you’re after a coastal escape or a vibrant city break, these destinations offer the perfect mix of dog-loving culture and practical amenities. Experts at Accor said there are plenty of places to explore “without leaving your pup behind”.

Liverpool claims the top spot with an overall dog-friendly score of 7.11, thanks to its pet-welcoming attitude and excellent facilities for dogs and owners alike.

Accor boasted that Liverpool has an abundance of lovely dog-friendly eateries, parks, shops, and bars to enjoy with your four-legged family member.

Dog owners can enjoy scenic walks through Sefton Park’s lush trails or head to the waterfront at The Royal Albert Dock, home to several pet-friendly pubs and cafés.

Brighton and Hove comes in a close second, with an overall score of 7.05 and top marks for its dog-friendly atmosphere and scenic surroundings.

Brighton is an ideal coastal adventure with your pup; the city’s pebbled beaches, although seasonally restricted, offer plenty of space for dogs to stretch their legs.

Meanwhile, Stanmer Park is perfect for off-lead play among open fields and wooded paths.

Also, many of Brighton’s popular spots, such as The Flour Pot Bakery and The New Club on the seafront, welcome dogs indoors.

With great cafés and beautiful green spaces, it’s no wonder Brighton ranks so highly.

Glasgow secures third place, with a respectable dog-friendly score of 6.76. There’s Glasgow’s Singl-end Café and Bakehouse, which is a top choice for pet owners, offering a cosy, dog-friendly environment alongside its hearty homemade menu.

Outdoors, Pollok Country Park is a standout for leisurely walks and playtime, with acres of woodland and fields to explore, while Kelvingrove Park provides riverside paths and wide-open space near the heart of the city.

With its blend of urban energy and green escapes, Glasgow is a fantastic choice for dog lovers planning a Scottish city stay.
