England head coach Thomas Tuchel has named his first squad since taking charge ahead of this month’s World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Albania and Latvia. The German has named the 26 players available for selection for the Wembley double header as the Three Lions kick off their qualification campaign for the tri-nation tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada. The biggest surprise is the return of 34-year-old Jordan Henderson, who had been omitted from previous squads by previous boss Gareth Southgate after moving to Saudi Arabia. Marcus Rashford and Reece James have also earned recalls despite long absences from the national team.
Tuchel will also have the opportunity to hand first England caps to Arsenal teenager Myles Lewis-Skelly following his impressive performances for the Gunners. Newcastle defender Dan Burn, 32, has been rewarded for his consistent performances for the Magpies and may get the chance to win his first cap.
