With three managers still carrying the interim tag, a few more skippers on somewhat iffy ground, three recent GM changes, one new team owner and one unemployed iconic manager ready to get back to work, expect another wild hiring scramble this winter.
That’s why the Mets need a plan.
Here’s my Mets plan: First, make a big play for the coveted, accomplished, unusually available Alex Cora, which would be a home run. But if they can’t get Cora, bring back interim manager Andy Green, who’s doing a creditable job (26-26 into Thursday night).
Cora is a managing savant with a World Series ring, so by all means go for it. But realistically, he’s probably a long shot. (More on that below.)
