There are thousands of beautiful gardens across the world but very few come close to this one. Located just 18 miles (30km) from Amsterdam, a huge flower park in the Netherlands has opened its gates once again to the public. The Keukenhof Gardens are widely considered as the largest flower garden in the world, covering a huge 32 hectares and displaying over seven million flowers, according to the Tulip Festival Amsterdam.
The main attraction? Tulips. The park officially opened on March 20 and will remain open until May 11, 2025, giving visitors a narrow eight-week window to witness the breathtaking display. According to Portuguese news channel SIC Noticias, Keukenhof welcomes more than 1.4 million visitors during its short season. Tourists come from across the world to admire the displays, take photos and stroll through the themed flower beds.
The garden features more than 800 varieties of tulips and is laid out with intricate floral designs that change each year depending on the chosen theme.
Every season includes a mix of flower shows, art installations, and carefully curated inspiration gardens.
Visitors can enjoy 10 miles (15km) of walking trails, passing through stunning displays of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and more.
The planting is cleverly layered, ensuring fresh blooms throughout the season in three main stages.
Early spring features crocuses and daffodils, followed by hyacinths and early tulips, and finally, peak tulip season arrives in late April and early May.
Inside the park, guests can also visit the Tulpomania exhibition at the Juliana Pavilion to learn more about the history of tulips and their impact on the Netherlands.
But it’s not just flowers. Keukenhof is also the largest sculpture garden in the Netherlands, with works by Dutch and international artists placed throughout the park.
For those planning a visit, tickets cost €25 (£21) and are best booked online in advance.
Entry is controlled via time slots and tickets often sell out quickly on busy days.
Keukenhof is easy to reach from Amsterdam and other major Dutch cities like The Hague, Rotterdam, and Leiden.
Visitors can travel by car, taxi, guided tour, bike, or even take the Keukenhof Bus Express.
