For two years in a row this cruise ship has won a major award, landing it the title of ‘#1’ – thanks to its insane onboard itinerary. It may be relatively new to our coastlines, but this ship, since it first launched in 2024, has gone on to make waves in the world of cruise holidays with just about everything to offer onboard.
Sun Princess has captured the attention of world travellers, as it was voted yet again as the #1 Mega Cruise Ship in Condé Nast Traveller’s prestigious 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards. With an unbelievable offering to its guests, this ship has just about everything you could dream of and more, setting an entirely new standard in the industry. The unbelievable ship launched as the first of the new Sphere-Class vessels, weighing an eye-watering 177,882 tonnes with the ability to house 4,300 guests on board. These lucky travellers have the choice to stay in a wide-range of rooms that offer luxury and comfort, all while exploring the elevated activities the boat has to offer.
Unique facilities
Itineraries take the spellbinding ship across the dreamy seas of the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and beyond, but it’s what’s inside that really matters to its guests. Beginning with the sheer size and shape of the thing, as it hosts an innovative standout feature known as The Dome – a multi-level glass-enclosed entertainment space.
Along with it sits the technologically advanced Princess Arena as well as The Piazza, which sits at the heart of the ship. With floor-to-ceiling windows, the Piazza acts as the centrepiece of the entire cruise, offering sweeping views of the ocean in a never-before-seen design.
They’ve even levelled up their Vegas-calibre casino by expanding it to feature the very first ‘Buffalo Zone’ at sea. Alternatively, if you like your cruising time to be one spent in relaxation, there is an award-winning Lotus Spa on board.
Restaurants
The ship is not short of an excellent food selection; in fact, there are over 30 restaurants to choose from onboard, so many that it would be impossible to try them all in one trip. Each venue offers an unprecedented amount of cuisine, from the carefully curated wines in the Love Line Premium Liquors Collection and flavours in their teppanyaki restaurant to its very own Irish pub – O’Malley’s.
Casual dining can be enjoyed at the likes of Alfredo’s Pizzeria, where families tuck into trusty Italian dishes, or get glamorous and enjoy the quiet luxury of a steakhouse that is Crown Grill and its many other speciality spots. Guests can catch the sunrise as they sip away along the promenade or let things get slightly more rowdy as they kick back with cocktails in the Magic Castle.
Rooms
Sun Princess has been voted as the best mega ship for a reason, and its accommodation options aren’t anything short of that, with something for every kind of stay. Their Sky Suite is luxury at its finest as the biggest stateroom onboard, housing up to five guests, with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors taking you out onto a private balcony.
With over 1,500 balcony staterooms onboard, they are so vast they have to be split into five defining categories. These include Interior, Oceanview, and Balcony. Mini-Suite and Suite.
On winning the award, President of Princess Cruises, Gus Antorcha said: “This award is a true testament to the ship’s next-generation design and amenities amplified by the dedication and passion brought by our incredible crew to create exceptional experiences for our guests. To receive this honor for a second year is both humbling and motivating as we continue to deliver unforgettable Princess vacations across the globe and expand our fleet with sister-ship Star Princess.”
