These 10 cities have topped a list for being the best to live in this year – and number one is a globally renowned destination that may be very close to you. New research has revealed which cities make the best homes, whether it be huge metropolises or quieter seaside spots.

The ranking is based on an analysis by Canadian consultancy firm Resonance of 270 cities and focuses on their liveability, diversity, infrastructure, employment opportunity and prosperity among other key factors. The data gathered was a combination of core statistics and user-generated data, which helped assess the quality of the places. The study resulted in the publication of the firm’s annual report ranking 100 cities with populations of over one million.
