Your 2025 resolutions to have a healthier lifestyle could be achieved more easily if you live in the right place.
ZAVA health experts have ranked the 10 healthiest cities to live in the UK – and it is not located in England.
A new study by ZAVA, an online doctor service and online pharmacy, has crowned Edinburgh as the UK’s healthiest city while London only came in ninth place.
The research was based on key factors such as pollution, gyms, health shops, and green spaces to determine which city it is healthiest to live in.
Zava said in a statement sent to the Mirror: “From the iconic Princes Street Gardens to the serene Holyrood Park, these green spaces provide ample outdoor activities, relaxation, and exercise against the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat.”
Edinburgh topped the ranking with a score of 8.49 out of 10, followed by Bristol (8.36) and Glasgow (8.20).
The Scottish capital has a total of 1,765 parks with green spaces scattered throughout the city and has been praised for its many walking trails that offer stunning vistas.
Dr Crystal Wyllie from ZAVA told the Mirror: “Places like Edinburgh show how cities can provide a mix of green spaces, fitness options and health resources that support an active lifestyle.
“With plenty of parks, gyms and healthy stores, these cities create the right environment for both physical and mental health.
“Consistency is the real game-changer. Small, simple changes that you can stick to over time will lead to lasting improvements.
“As we head into the new year, taking advantage of what’s around you and finding balance will help set the stage for a healthier, more fulfilling year ahead.”
Bristol came second as it had less parks than Edinburgh while Glasgow reportedly came third thanks to having the most fitness facilities than any other UK city.
