There are a number of UK cities excelling in the tourism industry, such as London, Manchester and Edinburgh, which are popular with both domestic and international visitors. While this specific city is among the nation’s most recognised, it appears that more and more people are taking an interest in paying a visit.

According to a report by Expedia which looked at what destinations Brits are planning to spend their summers in, Birmingham has become one of the fastest-growing domestic destinations in the UK. With the travel company’s insights revealing a 105% increase in searches on the city.

“Birmingham’s evolving food and cultural scene is drawing more weekend visitors,” the report reads. The West Midland’s city ranked number four on Expedia’s Top Summer Destinations list, just one spot behind Manchester.

The bustling city is home to a great blend of attractions that caters to a variety of interests and all ages. The Bullring sand Grand Central is the ultimate destination for shopping lovers, and is conviently connected to the city’s largest railway station, Birmingham New Street.

Once you’re all shopped out, why not stop for food, because as well as the market stalls and over 150 stores in the shopping area, the centre is also home to over 40 restuarants all offering foods from cuisines around the world.

The city is also full of incredible museums and galleries to really discover Birmingham’s heritage including the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (BMAG). House in a Grade II listed building, the landmark which first opened in 1885 features over 40 galleries showcasing displayed art, applied art, social history, archaeology, and ethnography.

Rated 4.4 stars on TripAdvisor, one visitor said: “This Art Gallery and Museum engages everyone on many levels, has helpful staff and a relaxing and cute cafe too.

“We revelled in Rembrandt’s Drawings, which is the current exhibition, no longer Victorian Radicals……worth every penny. Put aside at least half a day for this fab place, there’s a wealth of stuff!”

For those who like to embrace nature, Birmingham is the perfect location – as one of the greenest cities in Europe, the lush city is home to stunning parks perfect for walks or a picnic with loved ones.

And, the enjoyment doesn’t end during the evening, as the city is home to world-class live music venues that hosts huge local names and international stars. As well as pubs, bars and lounges that offer different atmospheres, so whether you plan to dance the night away or just want to enjoy a late hang out with friends, you’ll find the perfect spot to do so.
