King Charles’ relationships with all his grandchildren vary as they are influenced by geographical distances and family dynamics. but the King appears to have more frequent gatherings with Mia, Lena, and Lucas Tindall – children of his niece Zara Tindall than with his own grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who live in Montecito, California.

Mia, 11, Lena, six, and Lucas, four, all live on Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park Estate in Gloucestershire. The Tindalls can often be spotted at royal events and family gatherings, allowing the King to maintain a constant presence in their lives. While Mia and Lena have previously attended Easter Sunday Matins service at St George’s Chapel, Lucas has been too young to join.

As grandchildren of Princess Anne and great-grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II, Mia, Lena and Lucas are part of the wider Royal Family. Despite their royal lineage, they do not hold royal titles, reflecting their parents’ desire for a more private upbringing.

Mia is the eldest child of Zara and Mike Tindall. She gained public attention in 2016 when she was photographed holding Queen Elizabeth II’s handbag in a cute official portrait for the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Lena is the second daughter of the royal couple. Her middle name, Elizabeth, honours her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Lucas is the youngest child and only son of Zara and Mike. His middle name, Philip, pays tribute to his great-grandfather, Prince Philip. Lucas made his first public appearance during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

Across the pond, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, alongside their parents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, live in California.

Since the couple stepped back from royal duties in 2020, family visits to the UK have been infrequent. King Charles has reportedly met Archie only a few times and Lilibet once, during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, which means he has a limited relationship with them.

Ongoing tensions between the Sussexes and the Royal Family, coupled with Harry’s legal disputes over security arrangements, have complicated these efforts.
