Africa is becoming a hot commodity when it comes to travel destinations offering sun-drenched getaways that are both affordable and stunning.

U.S. News has ranked the top places to visit on the continent, with their ranking being based on factors including user votes, expert opinion, culture, affordability and the array of activities on offer.

According to the publication, the number one best place to visit in Africa for 2025 is Tanzania.

The country is home to impressive game reserves packed with wildlife and includes luxurious accommodation, glorious beaches and a rich culture like no other.

Tanzania also boasts a diverse landscape, incredible wildlife and some of the best beaches in the world, with warm locals happy to welcome you on a trip of a lifetime.

The east African country borders the Indian Ocean and is home to Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, and the world’s second-deepest lake, Tanganyika.

A visit to these magical lands offers adventure-seeking visitors animal-filled plains including lions, cheetahs, buffalos, hippopotamus, wildebeests and leopards.

Tanzania’s distinctive natural wonders are truly a sight to behold including Lake Natron with its distinctive red hues or an expansive crater found at Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Other notable spots here include the chimpanzee-populated rainforests of Mahale Mountains National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti National Park.

Here, visitors are rewarded with the greatest show on Earth also known as The Great Wildebeest Migration which is a natural phenomenon that involves the migration of millions of animals in search of water and food.

Lake Manyara is located in the Monduli District of Arusha Region and is famed for its tree climbing lions, great birdlife, elephants, baboons and an array of flamingos.

Tanzanian cuisine offers a mix of traditional African food, with a strong Arabic/Indian influence.

Seafood here is plentiful and as fresh as it can get with Tanzania’s Stone Town, a lively street market serving up a variety of mouth-watering eats and is a must for all foodies.

Found in North Eastern Tanzania, Kilimanjaro is the true gem of Tanzania and represents a powerful life force among the local Chagga people.

Around 75,000 people climb this 5,895 metre mountain each year offering some of the most epic views for those brave enough.

Some of the world’s most stunning beaches also line this region’s shores with Mafia Island Beach, Matemwe Beach and Kipepeo Beach all coming in highly recommended.

“This experience was once in a lifetime that I recommended everyone must do,” wrote one review on TripAdvisor.

Adding: “The animals, the scenery, the sun & the birds were breathtaking. I will go back.”
