The reason why Meghan Markle was forced to miss Prince Harry’s award ceremony

Prince Harry, 39, took to the stage, alone, at the Beverly Hills Hilton to be honoured as a “living legend of aviation” on January 19 by actor John Travolta.

Meghan Markle, who had been expected to attend, did not accompany her husband as one of their children had become unwell

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are parents to Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two. It is currently unknown as to which of the children wasn’t feeling well, with no further information revealed.

A body language expert, analysing photos of Prince Harry’s arrival at the glitzy ceremony stated he looked “anxious”.

Judi James said: “He probably has enough reasons to look anxious and wary: he does suffer from anxiety before making speeches and he might be missing the support of Meghan, who was not spotted at his side; or he could be worried about his father and his sister-in-law’s health, or he could just be illustrating his thoughts about the press following his courtroom dramas of the day before.”

It is the first time he has been seen in public since news of Princess Kate’s abdominal surgery and King Charles’s enlarged prostate diagnosis emerged. It comes as Princess Kate is currently recovering at The London Clinic private hospital after her “planned abdominal surgery”.

Her husband, Prince William, has since been seen driving to and from the hospital in central London where she is being treated.

News emerged earlier this month that Prince Harry would be inducted at the Living Legends of Aviation.

Speaking about his honour, they said: “Prince Harry is a humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate and environmentalist. He has dedicated his life to advancing causes that he is passionate about and that bring about permanent change for people and places.”

Harry completed two tours of Afghanistan where he served as an Apache helicopter pilot, rising to the rank of Captain.

Thanking Travolta, who famously danced with Diana in 1985, the Duke said: “I was just a one-year-old when you danced with my mum at the White House and now look at us!”

The event in Beverly Hills, California was attended by a host of celebrities, including Jeff Bezos, Morgan Freeman and William Shatner.
