Meghan Markle’s reason for allowing royal fans to see Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet could be to “attract attention” to the upcoming collection release for As Ever. The Duke, 40, and Duchess of Sussex, 43, have largely kept their children out of the spotlight – but, since her return to social media in January, the former actress has given fan a small glimpse into her life as a mother.
Wrting in her column for the Daily Mail, Amanda Platell wrote: “Might this be at all connected with yesterday’s announcement that a new set of Meghan’s domestic products – including a new line of pancakes – will be on sale through her As Ever brand in just a few days’ time? If it really is the case that Archie and Lilibet’s pictures were released to attract attention and encourage sales, then it would be truly shameful – a tawdry drive for profit by mega-bucks Meghan.”
Further speaking of Meghan’s recent post to celebrate Father’s Day, Amanda added that the post appeared to have been “prepared” for the release date reveal just hours later.
She added: “The ground, it seems to me, had been prepared.
“Just a few days ago, we saw the Sussex kids in Disneyland, their faces covered on the screen by hearts.
“Enough of a tease in my book to make even the most cynical observers conclude this was a prelude to a ‘big reveal’.”
A newsletter, from As Ever, which was released on June 16, read: “First off, a sincere thank you for making the debut of As ever absolutely extraordinary. We had a feeling there would be excitement, but to see everything sell out in less than an hour was an amazing surprise.”
It went on to give the date for fans’ diaries. The newsletter added: “We are pleased to share that on June 20th, we’re going live with the products you love – plus, some new delicious surprises. More details and exact timing will be shared soon.”
The first batch of products were released on April 2 – with the products selling out within an hour of the website going live.
