The pretty seaside town that’s ‘extremely isolated’ but perfect for a summer trip | Travel News | Travel

If you’re looking for a quiet place to enjoy a break this summer, there’s one isolated spot that’s perfect for a getaway. This spot in North Wales is a hidden gem that has been named by Time Out as one of the best seaside towns in the UK.

It’s unsurprising to find this tiny town on the list, with its crystal-clear blue waters, dramatic cliffs, and charming coastal paths, it’s a perfect destination for a peaceful getaway. The town is not short of spots which have picture-perfect views of the coast. Nefyn, Gwynedd is a great destination for those looking to escape the busyness of everyday life.

Time Out says: “The Llŷn Peninsula is where you go in Wales if you really want to get away from it all.

“But if you don’t want to do away with human company altogether, we’d suggest staying in Nefyn: a small town and community that stretches out to nearby Edern and Morfa Nefyn.

“The main draw here is the Morfa beach – a sandy stretch complete with pretty pub and whitewashed cottages. The town itself is a brilliant base for hikers with their sights set on nearby Snowdonia.”

Nefyn Beach is a highlight of the area – the beach has calm waters, a clean shoreline and is ideal for swimming. It has become a favourite for families and nature lovers alike.

But what really sets Nefyn apart is Porthdinllaen, a tiny, car-free fishing village just a short walk along the coast from Nefyn Beach.

Beyond the beach, Nefyn is rich in maritime history. The Llŷn Maritime Museum offers a glimpse into the area’s seafaring past, including tales of shipwrecks, fishing traditions, and wartime stories.

Meanwhile, walkers can enjoy a stretch of the Wales Coast Path, which passes through Nefyn and offers breathtaking views of the coastline.

While you’re in the town, you should visit Nefyn Watch Tower which is a popular viewpoint.d

A visitor on Tripadvisor said: “Built on the site of the motte and bailey castle this little tower is tucked away behind St David’s church. From the top there is a great view over the small town of Nefyn and out to sea.”

With its unspoiled charm Nefyn is ideal for a summer staycation and it offers the opportunity to explore the Welsh coast.
