The beautiful island of Majorca, home to stunning beaches and crystal clear waters, is a popular destination for not only Brits but travellers worldwide. Majorca welcomes around 12.5 million visitors every year, with more than two million of them being made up by UK holidaymakers.
Although the island has many benefits that make it the ultimate destination for a sun-filled holiday, one thing can ruin the trip for people, and that’s the overcrowding. Fortunately, for those looking for a hidden spot on the island, there is a peaceful sandy corner that makes an excellent alternative to the island’s busier areas.
Nestled in Santa Margalida is Son Baulo Beach, a natural enclave with fine, light sand and crystal-clear waters. The stunning beach is home to a gradual shoreline depth, creating a safe swimming environment, and is the ultimate spot for snorkelling and exploring the vast range of the area’s marine biodiversity.
It provides lifeguard and first-aid services, and has great facilities including showers, rentals for umbrellas and sunbeds.
Despite having so much to offer, the 250-metre beach rarely experiences any overcrowding, even during the busy tourism months of July and August, reports Majorca Daily Bulletin.
Visitors have praised the beach on TripAdvisor, describing it as “unspoilt” and flawless. One tourist who visited last year, also commended the fact that there is disabled access.
They wrote: “We stayed in the Son Baulo hotel right on this beach. It is natural and unspoilt with a lagoon and nature reserve. The sand is soft and golden and extremely safe for children. It has a lifeguard. Also a wonderful beach bar which does amazing drinks and cocktails.
“It also has some spectacular statues which go all along the flat walkway into Can Picafort. There is also disabled access. Can’t fault this beach at all.”
A second wrote: “It is a very quiet beach and in which the water does not cover much. Being small, I recommend that if you leave in the summer months they get up early to find a good place to enjoy the place. It has very curious sculptures inside the beach.”
The beach can be accessed by car or public transport, with regular bus services connecting it to popular island locations.
