Deep in the heart of the Peak District National Park sits a beautiful little village. Known for its quaint style, beautiful surrounding nature and for a popular cake named after the village, it has become a popular tourist destination.

Bakewell has gained a huge reputation over the years – and for good reason.

With its stone cottages, scenic walks, and welcoming charm, the picturesque town is the image of traditional English country life.

Set along the banks of the River Wye, Bakewell is most well known for its delicious Bakewell tart.

The Bakewell tart is a shortcrust pastry with layers of jam, frangipane, chopped almonds and icing.

Peak District Online says: “Bakewell really is a little gem of a village in the heart of the glorious Peak District.

“The wonderful old buildings, the character cottages, the meandering river with banks of green willow – Bakewell is simply a truly beautiful place.”

Surrounded by rolling hills and some of Britain’s best-loved walking trails, Bakewell is the ideal base for exploring the Peak District.

If you’re looking for somewhere to visit that is close by, you can’t miss out on a trip to Chatsworth House.

Located just 15 minutes away, Chatsworth House is a historic estate where you’ll have the opportunity to see famous art works and spectacular fountains.

Whether you’re browsing the independent shops, enjoying a coffee in one of the many cafes or just soaking up the relaxed pace of village life, Bakewell is the perfect place to visit.

One person who visited Chatsworth House wrote on Tripadvisor: “Went today for the first time and it was such a lovely day.

“The house tour is well laid out and the staff are very knowledgeable. The gardens were brilliant and there were some very interesting plants in the greenhouses. Can’t wait to go back for Christmas.”

If you’re looking for a place to visit for an autumn day trip, this village is just as charming in the colder months as it is in summer.

The Great British Life says: “Bakewell is a magnet for visitors to the Peak District National Park.

“As well as being the largest town in the park, it is located within easy reach of some of the most magnificent stately homes and finest scenery in the country.”

Next time you’re looking for a charming and quaint place to visit, Bakewell could be the destination for you.
