Sydney Sweeney may become Prince Harry and Meghan’s new neighbours, with her heart set on a pretty Cotswolds village. The Hollywood star is said to have viewed a property in Little Tew, a picturesque, quiet rural escape in Oxfordshire, known for its pretty honey-coloured stone buildings dating back to the 17th century and winding, tree-lined lanes. The White Lotus and Euphoria actor will be right at home among high-profile celebs, down the road from David and Victoria Beckham’s large estate near Great Tew, and just a few miles from Banbury, near Geri Halliwell’s sprawling grounds. Soho Farmhouse is just a 10-minute drive away, the exclusive members’ club loved by A-listers, including Meghan Markle, who is thought to be living in the area with her Sussex clan.
The Donald Trump supporter will also join fellow American Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, though the Democratic-leaning chat show host moved here after Trump was elected. Sydney, on the other hand, told her friends she will spend more time in the UK for her career, hoping to land a coveted role in MGM Amazon’s James Bond reboot.
A source said: “Sydney has visited the Cotswolds twice in the past 10 months, and absolutely loves it. She viewed property there within the past three months.
“She doesn’t get bothered by locals, who are all well-used to seeing A-listers, and finds village life incredibly cute and quaint. It’s also a huge change of pace from LA and all the vultures circling. And she can lead a more peaceful life in the countryside.
“Pinewood Studios are also only about an hour away, meaning she could easily stay at home while filming should she land the gig.”
It will be a drastic change from life in LA, since the historic village recorded only 253 residents in the 2011 UK Census. Unlike many neighbouring Cotswold destinations that have become tourist hotspots, the village has no shops, pubs, or hotels within its boundaries, and homes are scattered along narrow tree-lined lanes. However, locals in nearby Great Tew did not seem concerned about the extra attention her move may bring.
One told The Sun: “Who doesn’t love seeing a famous person in the village? I think it would be great if the move goes ahead. She seems like a lovely woman.” Another said she would feel “right at home” given the amount of celebs in the area.
According to a recent report from Savills, international buyers are showing interest in the area’s luxury properties. They accounted for just over a fifth of all sales at £1.5million or above in the Cotswolds last year, up from the 12% average in the past five years.
Sydney is understood to be making the move alongside boyfriend Scooter Braun, 45, a multi-millionaire businessman whom she met at Jeff Bezos’ wedding. It isn’t her first time in the beautiful region. Last Christmas, she posted pictures of horse riding and having a holiday at Soho Farmhouse.
