A beach in Greece has been listed as one of the best in Europe for 2025 thanks to its being “picture perfect”.

Vitali Beach on the island of Andros is “a local’s haven” and “blissfully” free of tourists, according to Condé Nast Traveller‘s list.

While it isn’t a sandy beach, Vitali has “impossibly” blue water and an “endless” view which is “undisturbed”, according to the same publication.

The beach is on the north eastern side of Andros, about 22 miles (35km) from Chora and nine miles (15km) from Gavrio.

It is a secluded beach which offers privacy as well as peace and quiet.

There is a road from Gavrio leading to Vitali but nearly half the route is track and narrow so a motorbike or jeep is recommended to get there.

A bar is open in summer and there are some umbrellas and sun beds available.

The water is “crystal” clear, though the beach is surrounded by a rocky landscape, according to Greeka.com.

Vitali Beach is also an ideal place to practise diving and to visit during a windy day as it’s not sandy, but made of pebbles.

Andros Guide warns, however, that it isn’t easy to get to and the time it takes to get there can seem arduous.

Nevertheless, Vitali Beach is “worth the effort” and a “must-visit” for any trip to the island, the same publication says.

The closest airport to Andros is Athens International. From there it is a 30 minute bus ride to Rafina from where you can take a ferry to the island.

There’s a range of accommodation on Andros, including upmarket Archontiko Eleni Hotel where a room for two adults for one night costs £63.48 at the time of writing.

Paradise Art Hotel, Anemomiloi Andros Boutique Hotel, Camara Suites, Casa Di Fiori Andros Suites and Androck Heaven Retreat are also among Booking.com’s recommended places to stay.
