A new electric car set to soon hit the roads in China has been dubbed a “Tesla nightmare” with the model likely to challenge the American giant in Asia. The Li Auto Mega is a new family Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) people carrier that could revolutionise the EV market.
Li Auto described its new model as a ”true head turner”, claiming the car will soon become the “centre of attention” on the roads. The Li’s standout concept is clearly tapping into comfort, creating an almost lounge-like space in the back for passengers to enjoy. Dual-rotating zero gravity seats allow passengers to pace each other limousine style with reclining seats and leg rests built in for luxury.
Li described the model as a “moving sanctuary for Chinese families” and said their car offers “the spaciousness of a luxury apartment wherever you go”.
YouTube channel @shufosho suggested the model could give Tesla a run for its money as the American brand comes head to head with new competitors.
He said: “This Chinese EV is Tesla’s nightmare. The second row turns around and creates a living room. It even comes with a table that mounts directly to the floor. And if you get tired, it has a zero gravity lounge chair mode to relax in. It has 400 miles of all-electric range and it sells for 500,000 yuan (£52,586).”
Inside, the Li Auto Mega is packed with technology and a range of special features, including 18-point heated stone massage seats. A breathable seat ventilation system is also installed, cooling the seats after the car has spent an afternoon baked in the hot sun.
All seven seats are also equipped with a wraparound seating function to stay warm during the Autumn and Winter. The new car also comes with plenty of boot space, offering a 680mm deep trunk making it ideal for the whole family.
Liu Aito claims that even with all seven seats occupied, the new Mega can still accommodate four 28-inch suitcases or some family bicycles. The model is also equipped with a dual-purpose refrigerator for both cooling and heating, 50w wireless charging pots and front and rear tables.
Li Auto has also taken the headache out of charging with the model compatible with 5C ultra-fast chargers. It means motorists in China can enjoy up to 500 km (310 miles) of range after plugging their car in for just 10 minutes.
