The King and Queen are set to celebrate their 20th anniversary on Wednesday – and Buckingham Palace released three new pictures ahead of the milestone anniversary. King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, have also just embarked on a four-day royal tour in Italy. The new pictures, which were taken earlier this evening, show the couple in the garden of the British Ambassador to Italy’s residence.
Along the new pictures, Buckingham Palace released a statement, which read: “New photographs have been issued of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, to mark their 20th Wedding Anniversary. The images were taken today, the first day of Their Majesties’ State Visit to The Republic of Italy, at Villa Wolkonsky, in Rome. Their Majesties were photographed this evening, in the Villa’s grounds, by photographer Chris Jackson, next to the Neronian spur of the Aqua Claudia.”
In the new pictures, Camilla is wearing a white and beige coat dress by Anna Valentine – as well as a Lily of the Valley brooch. The Lily of the Valley is seen by many to symbolise enduring love.
According to Court Jeweller, the brooch is said to hold a special meaning for the King as it once belonged to his late grandmother, the Queen Mother.
The couple tied the knot on April 9, 2005 at the Windsor Guildhall followed by a blessing at St George’s Chapel, Windsor. They will spend their anniversary conducting engagements in Rome, before attending a glittering state banquet at the Quirinale Palace in the evening. The black tie event will be hosted by Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella and prominent Italian figures will be in attendance.
Hours after landing in Rome, the King and Queen posed for the loved-up photographs in the Villa’s grounds to mark their milestone wedding anniversary.
