Looking to escape the rain and wind while planning your next summer weekend away?

Just a four-hour flight and only £20 away, Tenerife awaits with its stunning white sand beaches and lush green hills, offering a tropical paradise that will make you feel like you’ve stepped into Hawaii.

Tenerife has earned its nickname as the ‘Hawaii of Europe,’ with many travelers sharing videos on TikTok that highlight its hidden beauty featuring white-sand beaches, black sand volcanic beaches and the third-tallest volcano in the world.

The island boasts crystal clear waters and an array of white-sand beaches from those of the Costa Adeje to more hidden away beaches like Playa de la Tejita, near the village of El Médano which is often quieter with incredible views of the red volcanic mountain, Montaña Roja.

In areas such as Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje, the colour of the sand varies from grey to yellow.

Not only is the Teide National Park, the Canary Islands’ largest National Park, but it is also the most visited place in Spain.

Mount Teide is the highest point in Spain and a World Heritage Site with beautiful craters, eroded rocks and a variety of volcanic landscapes.

Tenerife is heaven for sport-lovers where the sporting activites are incredibly varied, going from watersports, kayaking, surfing, windsurfing, swimming in the turquoise coloured sea to mountain biking and climbing.

While the best time to visit the island is between March and May or September to October, Tenerife is a great destination even in the winter with temperatures around 20 degrees even in February.

For those who want to find out more about the history and culture of the stunning island, Tenerife’s calendar is also full of popular festivals such as the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife which takes place every February or March, depending on the year.

La Orotava Romeria festival in June is one of the major annual religious pilgrimages where the community creates vibrant flower carpets to decorate the streets along the parade route one of the highlights is a massive 900-square-meter carpet in Plaza del Ayuntamiento, made from colorful volcanic sand and showcasing three biblical scenes.

Tenerife is a lovely sunny place to visit, regardless of what time of the year it is.
