Italy is home to a number of magical spots off the beaten track and away from the heaving crowds.
As overtourism increases and tourist taxes slowly creep up, finding lesser-known places is a hot travel topic.
TikTok user postcardsfromrachael posted a video discussing just that with the four regions in Italy that “skip the tourists traps” .
These spots are equally as beautiful compared to their more popular neighbours such as Venice.
The first spot on the list went to Montepeli, which postcardsfromrachael described as “a charming coastal city in Puglia”.
The TikToker added: “It has stunning views of the Adriatic Sea, a gorgeous historic centre and some of the best seafood you’ll ever try.
The region of Siena is famed for its Gothic cathedrals and its old town that’s surrounded by ancient rampants that were built between the 14th and 16th centuries.
“Stroll through the narrow streets, visit the breathtaking cathedral of Madonna Della Madia”.
Siena was next on the list – a city in Tuscany which is “famous for its medieval architecture, including the stunning Siena cathedral and the iconic Piazza Del Campo”.
In the video, postcardsfromrachael added: “Dive into rich history as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and don’t leave without trying the local wine and cuisine”.
Brescia was next, which she described as being “tucked away in the Lombardy region, Brescia is often overlooked but it’s packed with history”.
Brescia is home to a mild climate with stunning lakes, dramatic mountains with the Franciacorta hills nearby.
In the video, she said: “Check out the impressive Bashchia Castle, the beautiful Santa Maria Della Carita Church and the fascinating Roman Ruins in Campo Di Ponte.”
Last but certainly not least on the list was Alberobello described as a “Puglia gem”.
The region is famed for its unique architecture and is described as being highly photogenic and a captivating destination.
“It’s like stepping into a fairytale, it’s famous for its trulli houses which are traditional limestone homes with conical roofs,” explained postcardsfromrachael.
“Explore its narrow streets, soak in the magical vibes and uncover the history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site”.
