Meghan Markle launched her very own wine on Tuesday in her latest As Ever launch. The Duchess of Sussex’s rosé wine, sourced from California’s Napa Valley, hit the shelves today for £22 a bottle, with customers having to buy in batches of three, six, or twelve.
The wine has been described as having “soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish”. It is the first wine released by As Ever since the brand launched earlier this year.
While it may seem unusual for the duchess to have released her own wine, she is not the only public figure to have done this. Here at Express.co.uk, we are looking at just a handful of celebrities who also have their own wine labels.
One of the most famous celebrities to have their own wine is Kylie Minogue, who has a range of wines up for sale. Having launched Kylie Minogue Wine in 2020, the singer has had much success with her brand so far.
At the moment, the pop star has a portfolio of nine wines, including Prosecco Rosé and Signature Rosé.
Kylie’s Signature Rosé, which is “made from sun-kissed grapes grown in the stunning region of Provence”, is significantly cheaper than Meghan’s As Ever wine, retailing at just £9 a bottle.
Her Prosecco Rosé is also cheaper than Meghan’s, selling at just £12 a bottle.
Another celebrity figure with their own wine is Gary Barlow. The singer has said he developed a passion for wine when he first discovered the “delights of exceptional and rare red wines” nearly three decades ago.
The pop star, who has a number of wines with his own label now, has a rosé wine not too dissimilar from Meghan Markle’s. The wine sells for £8 a bottle and like Meghan’s, appears to be pale pink in colour.
It has been described as having “intense and fresh berry aromas complemented by subtle floral notes”.
A Hollywood actress Meghan has connections with who also has their own wine label is Drew Barrymore. She even had Meghan on her show not long ago, and has a rosé wine that, like Meghan’s, is also produced in California.
Working with a wine producer in California, Drew’s rosé wine is described as having floral aromas with “hints of stone fruit and blood orange”.
As reported by Urban Drinks, the wine also has “an undertone of citrus notes” and “a fresh and lively finish”, suggesting it may be similar to the one launched by the duchess today.
Another celebrity with their own wine up for grabs is Graham Norton, with the comedian selling his wines on supermarket shelves.
Among his alcohol collection is his rosé wine, which is described as being “packed with bright citrus and berry fruit”. The drink sells for £10 a bottle.
