With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, couples across the UK are on the hunt for budget-friendly ways to celebrate their love.

In response, financial experts at Moneyboat have unveiled data revealing the most cost-effective UK cities for a romantic getaway ahead of the big day.

The results show that while Edinburgh and Glasgow top the list for budget-conscious lovers, the lively city of Liverpool is hot on their heels.

Despite financial constraints, a whopping 65% of Brits are set to mark Valentine’s Day by doing something special this year.

To make love a little less costly, the experts created an index considering factors like affordable hotels, bars, restaurants, spa days and romantic activities, with Liverpool scoring a solid 56.60 on the index

With its vibrant culture and historical allure, Liverpool is perfect for couples on a budget, beingh home to second-highest number of budget-friendly 4-star+ hotels, with 603 options offering luxury for less.

With a buzzing social scene, the city also has the highest number of affordable pubs and bars, with 22 establishments ready to welcome you for a relaxing drink together. Rich in musical heritage and stunning architecture, Liverpool proves that romance doesn’t have to break the bank, reports the Mirror.

Here are some of the best ways to enjoy Liverpool without spending a penny:

Stroll along the Albert Dock

A walk along the Albert Dock is not just about enjoying the stunning waterfront views but also about soaking up the atmosphere of one of Liverpool’s most iconic landmarks.

You can enjoy a peaceful walk around the lake, or if you’re in the mood to relax, pack a picnic and enjoy it on the grass.
