The best TV shows and movies leaving Netflix in June – watch now before it's too late

Are you at a loss for what to watch right now? Well, look no further, Netflix is clearing out its catalogue in June in order to welcome some new arrivals. But with this comes the loss of a few big-hitters – whether you enjoy a musician’s biopic or like getting stuck into a gangster classic, there’s a huge variety of films and TV shows not to be missed. Here are the best of Netflix’s films and TV shows leaving the streaming platform in June – watch them now before it’s too late.

Legend (June 1)

An iconic film about the Kray twins, starring Tom Hardy, will leave Netflix on the first of the month. Legend, released in 2015, is a biographical drama about the Kray twins, Reggie and Ronnie Kray, who were violent gangsters in 1950s-1960s London. Emily Browning, Taron Egerton, Paul Anderson and Christopher Eccleston star alongside Hardy, who plays both twins in this gangster epic.

Back to Black (June 12)

The second biographical film from director Sam Taylor-Johnson, Back to Black, is about the life of beloved singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse. The film is based mainly on Amy’s rocky relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil, which inspired her to write Back to Black. Industry star Marisa Abela plays Amy, and Sinners star Jack O’Connell plays Blake. The film has received great reviews but has also seen a lot of backlash due to the timing of the biopic.

Attonement (June 16)

War romance/drama, Attonement, follows Briony, played by Saoirse Ronae, an aspiring writer who catches her older sister (Keira Knightly) in a passionate embrace with her lover, Robbie (James McAvoy). Due to her jealousy, she accuses Robbie of raping her cousin, and the fallout of this changes the course of three lives. Released in 2007, the film was directed by Joe Wright and based on Ian McEwan’s 2001 British metafictional novel.

Inglourious Basterds (June 16)

Quentin Tarantino’s 2009 war film is leaving Netflix mid-month. It tells the story of an alternate history where two converging plots to assassinate Nazi Germany leadership at a cinema in Paris. The film’s star-studded cast includes Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Michael Fassbender, Eli Roth, Diane Kruger, Daniel Brühl, Til Schweiger and Mélanie Laurent.

Bohemian Rhapsody (June 16)

The 2018 musical drama film that focuses on the life of Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury, is one not to be missed. From director Bryan Singer, the film follows the band’s journey from formation in 1970 to their Live Aid performance in 1985. Rami Malek plays Mercury, with Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joe Mazzello, Aidan Gillen, Tom Hollander and Mike Myers in supporting roles. Band members Brian May and Roger Taylor also served as consultants on the film.

Shameless (June 17)

All 11 seasons of the British comedy drama TV series, Shameless, will be leaving the platform mid-month, so if you need to get your fix, watch it while you can. The show is set in Manchester and follows a group of siblings from a working-class family as they attempt to cope with their alcoholic father while also navigating relationships of their own.

The Batman (June 17)

The most recent Batman film will leave Netflix on June 17. Christopher Nolan’s The Batman stars Robert Pattinson in the titular role and is supported by Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, and Jeffrey Wright. This instalment follows Batman as he is called in to intervene when Gotham City’s mayor is murdered. But his investigation leads to the uncovering of a web of corruption, which is, in fact, linked to his own dark past.

Operation Mincemeat (June 17)

2021’s Operation Mincemeat is set in 1943 and tells the story of the Allies on a mission to launch an assault on Fortress Europe, but they must protect the invasion from German firepower and avoid what could become a huge massacre. The film stars Colin Firth, Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyen, James Fleet, Penelope Wilton, Johnny Flynn and Jason Isaacs and was the final film appearance of Paul Ritter.
