This pretty country is a dream destination for many Brits and popular for its incredible beaches and scenic island views.

Sri Lanka, an island nation in South Asia, is known for its stunning landscapes, rich history, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality.

Whether you’re a nature lover, history buff, or beach enthusiast, Sri Lanka has something for everyone.

One must-see place in the area is Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress which is one of Sri Lanka’s most famous landmarks.

A visitor on Tripadvisor said: “I recently had the opportunity to visit Sigiriya’s Lion Rock, and it was an unforgettable experience.

“The climb, though challenging with its approximately 1,200 steps, was well worth the effort.

“Starting early in the morning helped avoid the heat and crowds, making the ascent more comfortable. The panoramic views from the summit were breathtaking, offering a unique perspective of Sri Lanka’s lush landscapes.”

April is one of the best times to visit the country due to its pleasant weather, where temperatures can reach up to 32C.

But not only this, you won’t find much rainfall in April as the country usually only sees occasional showers across the month, with the country’s two distinct monsoon seasons not falling in April.

To soak up the culture of the local area, you should try Sri Lankan cuisine, wander through Galle Fort and celebrate the vibrant Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year is in April too and it offers a vibrant festival filled with traditional rituals, delicious sweets, family gatherings, and lively games.

To see the country’s beautiful landscapes, you should visit Little Adam’s Peak View Point.

One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “Unbelievable views. Definitely worth it to climb up. There is a small kiosk where you can buy refreshments at the top but I would recommend bringing a water bottle of your own, especially if it’s a hot day.

“If you’re up for it, I would also recommend following the path to the next peak since the views are even better from there.”

One of the best beaches to visit in the area is Bentota Beach which is home to clear blue waters and bright white sands.

The sandy beach offers incredible views and visitors say it’s best to visit in the early morning or late evening to enjoy the sun.
