The beautiful English-speaking island with white sand beaches and cheap hotels | Travel News | Travel

Barbados has gained a reputation as a luxury playground for the rich and famous. It’s one of the most beautiful  islands in the world with white sand beaches, vibrant culture and five star hotels to explore – but if it seems out of your price range, don’t panic.

It is possible to enjoy this gorgeous island at a reasonable price. From world-class beaches to authentic local hospitality, the island remains accessible to those seeking quality without compromise. While some hotels will set you back thousands, there are a number of more affordable options on the island with prices starting from just £82.52 per night for two adults.

One of these is Ocean Spray Apartments. Right on the beach, these sustainable apartments overlook the famous Surfer’s Point – perfect for people who want easy access to the ocean.

Another option on Barbados’s south coast is Carambola Hotel which is family owned and just a five minute walk from the beach. This hotel starts at just £87 per night for two adults -a real bargain.

When it comes to food, Barbados has some incredible options for a very low price point. Barbadian cuisine is an essential part of the island’s identity, and travellers seeking authentic island flavours will find that some of the best meals come without a high price tag.

A visit to Oistins Fish Fry on a Friday night is considered a rite of passage, offering a blend of fresh seafood, music, and community atmosphere. It’s a place where locals and visitors dine side by side, enjoying grilled marlin, flying fish, and macaroni pie served straight from the grill. Average prices range from £11 – £13 per person.

There’s also great fast food options, including Rihanna’s favourite Chefette. Meals here cost around £7. It’s not just any fast food joint though –  famed for its legendary rotis, crispy fried chicken and tropical milkshakes, Chefette is a Bajan institution.

As for things to do, Barbados is perfect for travellers on a budget as the island’s jaw-dropping natural beauty can be explored free of charge.

Every beach in Barbados is open to the public, so travellers can relax on the same stunning shores as the A-listers. Pebbles Beach in particular offers a uniquely Bajan experience, as racehorses from the nearby stables are brought down to the shore each morning for a swim, an unforgettable sight that blends local culture with natural beauty and is completely free of charge

There’s also activities such as swimming, paddleboarding, and snorkelling that are widely available.

If you want to explore across the island there’s no need for expenses taxis and charters – Barbados has a public transport system widely used by locals that’s extremely reliable and affordable. The local buses can take visitors all across the island including popular sites such as Bathsheba, Harrison’s Cave and Oistins from as little as £1.30.
