The African seaside city with 300 days of sun and £17 hotel stays | Travel News | Travel

Set along Morocco’s stunning Atlantic coast, Agadir is a seaside gem offering an enticing mix of golden beaches, cultural attractions, and budget-friendly prices. Boasting around 300 days of sunshine a year, this vibrant city is quickly becoming a go-to destination for UK travellers in search of warmth without the high cost.

According to Chris Logan, Commercial Director at TUI UK, “Morocco offers a perfect blend of exotic culture, beautiful beaches, and year-round sunshine.” Agadir delivers exactly that – from sweeping sands to scenic mountain escapes and everything in between. Its wide, sweeping beach is one of the cleanest and most accessible in North Africa, making it a hotspot for sunbathers, swimmers, and water sports enthusiasts. But what truly sets Agadir apart is its affordability. Hotel stays can start as low as £17 per night, with the average four-star accommodation costing just £98 – a fraction of what you’d spend in most European resorts.

Eating and drinking out also won’t break the bank. A beer costs around £2.85, and a coffee averages £1.61, meaning you can indulge in beachside cafés or rooftop terraces with ocean views without overspending. Whether you’re dining on local tagine or sipping mint tea in the sun, Agadir makes it easy to relax on a budget.

Agadir isn’t just about sun and sand – there’s plenty to see and do. A cable car ride to the Kasbah Ruins offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and coastline, and is a must-do for first-time visitors.

Just outside the city, Paradise Valley provides a refreshing contrast with its lush scenery, palm trees, natural pools, and waterfalls. It’s a favourite among hikers and nature lovers, offering a peaceful escape from the buzz of the beach resorts.

For those planning a winter escape, Agadir is especially appealing. While much of Europe cools down, Agadir’s climate stays comfortably warm, making it ideal for off-season travel. And with no visa required for British citizens, it’s a stress-free destination year-round.

Getting to Agadir is now easier than ever. Direct  flights are available from several UK airports, including London, Manchester, and Birmingham. TUI has also just launched new direct flights from Newcastle, running twice a week throughout the summer season. This gives travellers in the North East an easy option for escaping to the sun. As Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport, said: “It is great to see TUI commence their new twice-weekly flights to Agadir, a popular sunshine destination with fantastic beaches and all of the wonderful culture that Morocco has to offer.”

Once you arrive, getting around is simple. Affordable local transport – including taxis and buses – makes exploring Agadir and its surroundings straightforward. Many of the city’s top attractions are also within easy reach of the main resort area.
