The royal, who lives in Windsor, took some time away from his royal duties earlier this year following his wife’s major abdominal surgery and subsequent cancer diagnosis.
Announcing her diagnosis back in March, the Princess of Wales also took some time away from the royal spotlight. The 42-year-old made her first major appearance of the year at this year’s Trooping the Colour in June.
Although she is said to have only carried out 11 engagements this year, Princess Kate ranked 10th in the list.
Queen Camilla ranked in sixth place, having embarked on 95 engagements this year. Earlier this month, the Queen stepped back from duties for a few days after falling ill with a chest infection.
As a full-time working member of the Royal Family, the Duke of Gloucester is the late Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin.
In September, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester visited Northern Ireland on behalf of the Crown.
