February is shaping up to be a great month for film lovers, with Netflix adding a diverse collection of award-winning movies, action-packed thrillers, comedies, and gripping documentaries to its catalogue. Some have already dropped, while others are still on their way, offering something for everyone.

Here’s a look at 11 of the best films coming to Netflix this month.

Parasite (February 1)

Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is not only a must-watch but a piece of cinematic history. The 2019 South Korean film made Oscar history as the first non-English language film to win Best Picture. It’s a darkly comedic thriller that delves into class divisions through the story of the Kim family, who infiltrate the lives of a wealthy household under false pretences. With unforgettable performances from Song Kang-ho and Cho Yeo-jeong, it’s a sharp, twist-filled ride that’s impossible to forget.

It (February 1)

Horror fans can dive into It, the 2017 adaptation of Stephen King’s terrifying novel. Set in the small town of Derry, Maine, the film follows a group of outcast kids who must confront their biggest fears when a malevolent entity, disguised as the clown Pennywise, begins preying on children. Bill Skarsgård’s chilling performance as Pennywise and the nostalgic ‘80s setting make this a standout in the horror genre.

Nice Guys

The Nice Guys (February 1)

Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling make an unexpectedly perfect comedy duo in The Nice Guys. Directed by Shane Black, this buddy-cop comedy is set in 1970s Los Angeles and follows a private detective and a tough enforcer who team up to solve the mystery behind a missing woman and a dead porn star. The film’s mix of dark humour, snappy dialogue, and action-packed moments makes it a hidden gem.

Cult of Chucky (February 1)

Horror lovers can revisit the Child’s Play franchise with Cult of Chucky, the seventh film in the series. This time, the iconic killer doll, voiced by Brad Dourif, returns to torment Nica (Fiona Dourif) in a psychiatric institution. Fans of the series will appreciate the film’s darker tone and callbacks to previous instalments.

The Founder (February 2)

Michael Keaton stars as Ray Kroc in The Founder, the story of how McDonald’s transformed from a family-owned burger joint into a global empire. Keaton’s portrayal of the ruthless, business-savvy Kroc is both compelling and unsettling, making this film an insightful look at the dark side of the American dream.

SPENCER

Spencer (February 8)

Kristen Stewart delivers a haunting portrayal of Princess Diana in Pablo Larraín’s Spencer. Set over the course of a Christmas holiday at Sandringham, the film imagines Diana’s internal struggle as she contemplates leaving the royal family. Stewart’s performance earned her a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars, and the film’s eerie, dreamlike tone sets it apart from other biopics. It’s less a historical recount and more a psychological study of a woman under immense pressure.

Rambo & Rambo: Last Blood (February 10)

A double feature for action fans: Sylvester Stallone’s original Rambo: First Blood introduces John Rambo, a Vietnam War veteran who fights against corrupt law enforcement. Rambo: Last Blood, on the other hand, sees Stallone return for a final battle as the character takes brutal revenge on a drug cartel. Known for its intense action and iconic one-man-army sequences, these films are classics of the action genre.

Trial by Fire (February 13)

Inspired by true events, Trial by Fire follows Elizabeth Gilbert, a woman who forms an unlikely bond with Cameron Todd Willingham, a death row inmate accused of killing his three children. Laura Dern stars as Gilbert, while Jack O’Connell plays Willingham in this gripping drama that explores issues of justice and wrongful conviction.

Operation Finale

To Catch a Killer (February 19)

This crime thriller follows a Baltimore cop, played by Shailene Woodley, who helps an FBI agent track down a sniper responsible for a series of mass shootings. The film blends procedural elements with psychological tension, creating an engaging and emotional story.

Operation Finale (February 20)

Based on true events, Operation Finale tells the story of the daring 1960 mission to capture Adolf Eichmann, one of the key architects of the Holocaust. Oscar Isaac stars as Peter Malkin, the Israeli agent leading the mission, while Ben Kingsley plays Eichmann. The film blends historical drama with elements of a spy thriller, creating a tense and emotional retelling of a significant moment in history.

Watcher (February 25)

For those who love psychological thrillers, Watcher offers an unsettling experience. The film stars Maika Monroe as a woman who feels increasingly isolated after moving to Bucharest with her husband. Her growing paranoia that she’s being stalked coincides with news of a serial killer targeting women in the city. It’s a slow-burn thriller that builds tension masterfully.
