These destinations may be some of the most expensive but they’re also some of the most overrated according to travellers. Going on holiday can be expensive so you want to make sure that if you’re spending the big bucks on a trip away, it’s going to be somewhere good. On a Reddit post called “AffordableTraveler”, some people shared where they thought were the most overrated places they’ve been to, reports Daily Mail.
Surprisingly, many of these destinations are often seen as places people would pick for their dream trips. One place on the list was Monaco, known for its lavish lifestyle and expensive prices.
A person with the account name of “Puce_moment” says Monaco is “wildly overpriced”, while “Cg12983” describes the country as an “unfriendly, snobbish place”.
Another place on the list is the Maldives known for its beautiful beaches and luxury island feel.
“Xycergy” says: “The beach villas and pristine beaches were awesome, but, frankly speaking, there are numerous other similar-looking places you can go to in Southeast Asia, or even the Pacific Island nations, for much cheaper.”
Other locations listed include Dubai which is a popular tourist destination offering exciting culture and a one of a kind experience for travellers.
The main complaints for Dubai were that it is too expensive, and that it seems “empty”. But the list goes on, others say Las Vegas was disappointing.
One person said: “Been there three times over 40 years. Never, ever again. It’s now just an overpriced scam location.”
Dublin, Switzerland and Costa Rica also featured on the list which are often praised for their pretty scenery or lively atmospheres – but tourists say they weren’t impressed.
