Texas bar shooting leaves multiple dead, injures up to 20 at Bufords Backyard Beer Garden

Multiple people were killed and as many as 20 people were shot at a Texas bar on Sunday morning before police killed the gunman.

Police responded to Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden on the 600 block of Rio Grande Street in downtown Austin, where at least 17 people were suffering from gunshot wounds, police officials told the Austin American-Statesman.

Officers opened fire on the unidentified armed suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident originated as a shoot/stab hotshot incident with multiple people injured,” the Austin Police Department wrote on X.

Officials did not reveal the conditions of those who were wounded.

The Austin Fire Department described the scene as an “Active Attack call” and had urged the public to avoid the area.
