Tesla Cybertruck driver shares mind-blowing amount six months of electric has cost him | World | News

A Tesla Cybertruck driver has revealed just how much he’s spent on charging his vehicle over six months.

Bilal Sattar, who has driven around 10,000 miles since getting his Cybertruck, shared his electric costs on social media, showing he spent just $573.55 (£452.26) on charging.

For comparison, Sattar claimed that driving a petrol-powered vehicle covering the same distance, assuming a fuel price of $4 per gallon, would have cost around $2,391.74 (£1,886).

That’s a saving of more than $1,800 (£1,419) in fuel costs. The data, taken directly from the Tesla app, breaks down his charging expenses for 2023.

Sattar’s low costs could be partly due to his smart charging habits.

Judging by his social media posts, he often uses free charging stations where available, and relies on solar energy to power up at home, significantly reducing his electricity expenses.

While these savings are impressive, they might not reflect the average experience of all electric vehicle (EV) owners.

Many EV drivers face higher charging costs depending on local electricity rates and access to free or low-cost charging points.

But this isn’t the first time Tesla drivers have reported cost benefits.

Another Tesla-owning couple in the US recently shared how switching to EVs led to decent reductions in their household electricity bills – despite charging two cars regularly.

They drive a Tesla Model Y and a Model 3 Long Range, and despite charging both cars regularly, they saw a drop in their electricity bill compared to when they were fueling petrol cars.

Their energy costs remained surprisingly low even during summer, when air conditioning usage typically spikes.

This comes as interest in electric vehicles continues to rise, with many consumers considering the long-term cost benefits.

However, Tesla has also faced challenges recently, recalling 240,000 vehicles due to a camera issue affecting certain Model 3, Model X, and Model Y vehicles from 2023 to 2025.
