With Christmas rapidly approaching, households are beginning to prepare their festive food supplies, particularly following major supermarkets’ recent launch of Christmas delivery bookings. Yet, it’s another piece of supermarket news that’s captured shoppers’ attention lately, as Tesco customers have been astonished by a significant find.

Bargain hunters are now rushing to purchase a Christmas essential after learning it could dramatically reduce their December spending. Given that a festive spread comes with a hefty price tag, consumers are keen to secure as many food deals as possible before the celebrations in just over a month.

TikTok user Hannah Browne, posting as hanbrowne1, recently highlighted the offers to followers. This follows the retailer’s announcement of a substantial benefit for Clubcard holders.

In her video, Hannah revealed she’d discovered some exceptional bargains at the store this week, which were so impressive she felt compelled to share them. Shoppers are now flocking to Tesco to take advantage, though a Clubcard is required to access these limited-time offers.

Hannah explained: “They have loads of joints of meat on Clubcard. So they have their pork loin joint, the boneless one. This one here, for example, is £3.75 a kilo now on Clubcard.”

She added: “So this takes this one here from £15.19 to £7.59, and that’s just for a over two kilo joint of pork. Then they had a half lamb shoulder. This was down to £6.75 a kilo instead of £13.50.

“So, this one would normally be £14.00, and it’s now £7.02. That’s just over a kilo, and then the whole lamb shoulder, which is crazy money, was normally £22.00 for this pack, is now £11.00.

“It was normally £22.00 for for this pack, it’s now £11.00, so that’s normally £13.50 a kilo, and they’ve dropped it down to £6.75 a kilo. This was a huge hunk of meat, so that’s an absolute bargain.”

Hannah also discovered a beef joint with a significant Clubcard discount. Pork leg joints are similarly discounted under the current promotion.

The final bargain she uncovered was a smoked gammon joint, slashed from £7.00 per kilo to £4.65 per kilo. Hannah noted these are all “big joints” of meat capable of feeding numerous people, making them difficult to resist.

She believes these prices are excellent value at this time of year, particularly as the meat can be frozen in preparation for Christmas. Many people expressed agreement in the comments section.

One person said: “I freeze these for Christmas. This time of year is always best for meat deals. Get stocked up before they whack the prices up.”

Another added: “Thank you for this. I save my Clubcard points for Christmas meats, so going to go later and pick them up.” Hannah replied, saying it was “perfect timing.”

If you’re pondering over how long you can keep raw meat frozen, some cuts can be frozen for up to 12 months; however, this varies by cut, with minced meats lasting around three to four months and chops about four to six months.

Whole poultry can also be frozen for up to a year, but freezing times are shorter for items that have a higher fat content, and proper packaging is crucial to maintain quality. For specific types of meat, it’s always wise to check how long you can freeze it for, and read the guidance on the packaging too.

Clubcard offers can change so, if you want to snap up the deals, it’s best to act quickly.
