Tesco issues three urgent food recalls over fears of contamination from rubber and moths

Tesco currently has three active food recalls for products sold in stores and online in the UK, including some Christmas foods.

The items are all store cupboard goods that have been compromised by foreign objects, in this case, rubber and moths.

Most recently, on Wednesday, December 13, the supermarket announced that multiple batches of tinned beans were at risk of being contaminated by “small rubber balls”.

According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), this was part of a wider food recall which saw a total of six Princes Group products recalled on the grounds of containing the rubber balls.

Tesco also recalled its Tesco Finest Cranberry & Apple Stuffing Mix due to “the possible presence of moths”.

In a statement, the supermarket said: “We’re recalling specific batches of two Tesco canned bean products.

“This is because they may contain small rubber balls, approximately 2.5cm in diameter, which are used as part of the manufacturing process. They may pose a risk if eaten.”
