Tesco shoppers with a Clubcard are being urged to spend 65p in stores in July and August to take advantage of a free meal scheme. The supermarket chain has brought back its Kids Eat Free scheme to 328 of its Cafes and Coffee shops across the country to help families save money over the summer holidays. Customers can get one kid’s hot meal, breakfast or pick ‘n’ mix meal deal free of charge with each item bought by an adult from as little as 65p when they scan their Tesco Clubcard. The offer is available from Monday to Friday from now until August 22 in Scotland, and from now until August 29 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Kids have a choice from an array of breakfast items including eggs and soldiers, beans and soldiers and pancakes, while main meals include Omega 3 fish fingers, baked chicken strips and pork sausages.
Lighter lunch options are available as part of the pick ‘n’ mix deal which includes a sandwich, a drink, two snacks and a piece of fresh fruit.
The free meals are not available on weekends and are subject to availability in Tesco’s dine-in cafes and Coffee shops.
A child must be present and adults must purchase an item to get the free kids meal. Customers will also require a Clubcard or the Clubcard app to bag the freebie.
Claire De Silva, Head of Communities at Tesco, said: “We know that household budgets can be really stretched over the school summer holidays, so offering free meals to children during this time is just one of the ways we can support families.”
Tesco ran the scheme over the school holidays last year and provided 404,499 free meals to children and families during the summer break.
And to help with costs of the long summer holiday, the supermarket says customers can also exchange their Clubcard vouchers with Tesco Reward Partners to double their value.
Clubcard vouchers are worth double when redeemed with more than 100 of the supermarket’s Reward Partners, which include Disney+, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, ASK Italian, Pizza Express, the RAC and Cineworld, so shoppers get better value for their money.
