Novak Djokovic made a winning return to competition on Friday, beating Marin Cilic 7-6(2) 6-4 at the Shanghai Masters. A four-time former champion at the event, Djokovic later confessed that the conditions were more difficult than ever.
“It’s crazy humid, to be honest. I don’t recall the weather being so humid in China. I don’t remember the last time I played in humidity like this,” the No. 4 seed said.
“It is what it is, you know, it’s the same for me, my opponent, and every other player. You just have to accept it, deal with it. A lot of sweating.”
