In a bid to convince people that this was far from the case, he requested travellers to “let other people know” if they are happy to, how much they’ve spent while abroad in Tenerife, including where they stayed and if it was affordable, and what activities they did.
He added: “What I’m trying to get accross is that Tenerife is very much still affordable. Now there are plenty of places in Tenerife that if you want to spend a grand a night you can spend a grand a night.
“But there’s also plenty of places where you can come and stay in a three, a four-star hotel, bed and breakfast all included and it costs you 100 euros a night.”
The tourism expert who “absolutely loves” Tenerife also asked that holidaymakers share some eating and drinking spots, and hotel reviews to “let other people know that Tenerife is still a very much affordable place.”
One person commented: “We spent £300 per day between four of us and we ate and drank like Lords.”
Another holidaymaker wrote: “We are in Tenerife 3-5 times a year. It’s very affordable, got some more expensive places, but well worth the cost if it’s extra. If I had time, I could tell you where to go for the best smash burger, steak etc.
“We go to the Tavern every day when there. The fish and chip shop next door is the best ever. Vagus grill is absolutely superb.”
A third person said: “You can definitely have a budget holiday to Tenerife, but you can’t ask for cheap and also want 5 star… it’s all about the budget! Eating out in Tenerife is about half the cost of Britain, fuel is cheaper too.”
