Teenage pals killed in horror HGV crash pictured for first time as families pay tribute

Two teenage friends who died in a horrific car crash involving a HGV near Stirling have been named as Kyle Marshall and Jayden McConnell. The two pals were in a black Vauxhall Corsa when it hit a big lorry on the A91 on Sunday.

Kyle Marshall’s family said they are “devastated” and that he “will be greatly missed”. The accident happened between the Bannockburn interchange and Greencornhills roundabout around 3.50pm.

Kyle and Jayden, both from Stirling, were sitting in the back of the Corsa and died at the scene. The driver, a 17 year old boy, is fighting for his life in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

A 17-year-old girl who was in the front seat got out of the hospital with just a few injuries. The man driving the lorry, who is 29, wasn’t hurt, the Scottish Daily Express reports.

He was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and released pending further enquiries.

Kyle’s family shared how much they will miss him, with a family member saying: “Kyle leaves behind his devastated mum Jenny and dad Gary, younger brother Hayden and sister Alix, his grans Janet, Eileen and Joyce, and girlfriend Lucy. He will be greatly missed by them and all his extended family, as well as his many friends and work colleagues.

“The family wish to thank everyone for their kind messages of condolence, and also want to thank all the emergency service staff involved in the aftermath of this dreadful accident.”

Road Policing Sergeant Elaine Scott said: “Our thoughts are very much with Kyle and Jayden’s families and friends at this difficult time. We must establish exactly what happened so, regardless of how significant you believe the information you have is, we want to hear from you.”

“I’d also ask drivers with dashcam footage of the area around the time to please review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 2165 of 17 March.
