A savvy traveller has shared how she keeps her packing to a minimum when she’s flying with hand luggage, saving money on luggage fees.
The “genius” idea was shared by TikTok user @missteachtravelrepeat, who is a Scottish teacher and part-time explorer, according to her account. The travel lover shared the tip with her followers in a post titled: “The travel hack that saves me so much money on luggage and allows me to travel 12+ times a year as a full-time teacher.”
Her caption read: “Wondering how to pack when you’re hand luggage only? Ryanair will never get any extra fees out of me ever ever ever.” Revealing the tip in her video, the teacher claimed: “These travel minis that you get in supermarkets are such a scam.
“I promise you I’m gonna show you a better way to do it, and no, it’s not the daft refillable bottles that you use once and then never again. I’m a teacher, and I like to travel 12+ times a year, and one of the ways that I afford to do that is not by paying for extra luggage. So here’s how I save money and cut down on space with these 99p contact lens cases.”
She then demonstrated how she uses the cases as containers for her large liquids. “Three of these have replaced everything you see in front of you just now. These look tiny, but I promise you, these do me up to about a week. I use them for any liquid makeup and skincare when I go away. This one had been used before, hence why it’s a wee bit mucky.
“In three of these cases, I managed to get my foundation, my moisturiser, a cleansing balm, a cleansing gel, and a liquid blush, which I also use as a lipstick.
“Like I said, they’re bigger than they look. I would normally use two pumps moisturiser for my whole face, and that held 12, plus all the stuff that was already in it.”
The video earned over 25k views, along with hundreds of comments. Viewers loved the hack, with many wondering why they’d never thought of it before. Someone commented: “I think this is genuinely the best thing I’ve ever seen.”
