President Donald Trump was photographed displaying his MAGA merchandise collection to French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during their White House visit.
Both world leaders, who were attending a multilateral summit with several other European heads of state, are pictured with the president, who is brandishing one of his signature “4 more years” crimson caps.
Margo Martin, who serves as a Special Assistant to the president and Communications Advisor, captured the photograph.
The image also shows Macron dressed in a navy blue suit, clasping his hands behind his back whilst gripping what appears to be a wooden box, while Zelensky, wearing his characteristic dark military attire, holds his hands in front of him.
A third unidentified gentleman can also be spotted in the room, reports The Irish Star.
The moment Martin shared the photograph, it immediately became a viral sensation.
“Embarrassing….Trump showed Zelensky and Macron his MAGA gift shop at the White House,” one person wrote on X.
“Gross-most unpresidential POTUS, EVER. The man has NO class,” wrote a second.
“He had a gift shop set up in the White House. He really is the cheapest, tackiest salesman ever,” said a third.
“If he hadn’t been born into wealth, he would be the used car salesman Danny DeVito played in Matilda,” they added.
“I don’t think enough people are angry enough about the fact that there is a gift shop in the White House,” another person said. Several individuals have come to the defence of the photograph.
“This is a historic photo. Look how happy he seems there. I love it,” one person praised.
“Thank goodness we have a TRUE Commander in Chief in the White House again,” another individual remarked. “Swear this is the most iconic political photo from this century,” added another.
Geographical Blunder
The photograph follows President Trump’s boast about his ability to end wars, during which he made a significant error. In his private meeting with Zelensky, Trump boasted about his record of “ending wars.
“I’ve ended six wars. I thought maybe this would be the easiest one. And it’s not. It’s a tough one,” Trump asserted. This comes amidst growing concerns over the president’s health due to a noticeable injury.
As Trump rambled on about the wars he claims to have ended, he made a significant mistake, referring to the Democratic Republic of Congo as the “Republic of the Condo.”
This followed a mocking eye roll from the Italian Prime Minister directed at Trump.
Trump quickly corrected himself, momentarily closing his eyes as he collected his thoughts. The high-profile meeting, which attracted much attention, provided an opportunity for Trump to quash rumours of cognitive decline.
A viewer pointed out the slip on X, writing, “Yes, he just said ‘Republic of the Condo.’ Can’t get his mind away from real estate!” Recently, Trump has made several verbal errors, leading viewers to question his mental capacity.
