Subtle reason Meghan Markle wore casual outfit for Oprah meeting exposed by fashion expert

Dressed down for an evening soirée with a top boss from Oprah Winfrey’s production company, Meghan Markle opted for “casual and comfortable” for a dinner outing for a very subtle reason, claims a fashion expert.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, chose a pair of dark skinny jeans, matching grey jumper, and flat stylish ballet pumps for a luxury sushi dinner at Asanebo Restaurant in Los Angeles.

Fashion editor at Khush Wedding Magazine, Vikas Rattu, says the look was “nothing too over the top”. He explained: “Not every outing has to be loud and bright. We’re used to Meghan Markle wearing gowns and dresses of various colours, but sometimes a woman just wants time off from wearing heels.”

Commenting on the styling of the one-tonal grey look, he added: “The colour suited Meghan, in the sense that it made Meghan, the person stand out, rather than the clothes.” The style expert claimed the Duchess of Sussex could have chosen to “elevate the look with heeled sandals”, but claims it was “appropriate attire” for a dinner meeting, and one that appears relatable to the “every day” person.

The Duchess attended the meeting alone, and it is likely her husband, Prince Harry, was at home in Montecito looking after Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.

Meghan Markle steps out in casual attire for luxury dinner

Showcasing her usual beaming smile, Meghan Markle headed out for an evening meal on Thursday wearing washed-out grey skinny jeans, a grey loose fitted jumper, flat ballet pumps, and a Goyard Bellechasse Biaude PM bag worth an eye-watering £2894 ($3,670).

Fashion Editor Vikas Rattu said: “Meghan has a very sophisticated, comfortable and charming look, that’s approachable for many people.”

He added: “This look was not over the top or loud or colourful, but more relaxed. Meghan is showcasing it’s absolutely fine to go out for dinner wearing comfortable and casual clothes, and you do not have to dress up for every occasion.”

The Duchess of Sussex wore her long, silky, chestnut brown tresses down with loose curls, for the dinner meeting.

Mr Rattu explained: “Her soft blowout hair went really nicely with her casual look, as it’s not too over the top either, and it feels like there is a correlation between how she styled her hair and her outfit.”

Meghan also opted for her signature smokey eye, and dark eyeliner for the evening event.

The fashion expert claimed Meghan’s blusher was applied heavier than usual. He said: “Meghan’s blush appears to be on the stronger side, whether this is from the camera flashes, it’s difficult to tell, but in person it could look a lot more subtle in a restaurant.”

Royal fans have recently seen Meghan dressed up for fancy galas including the glitzy ‘One Year to Go’ Invictus Winter Games event held in Whistler, Canada.

For the Invictus Games finale event, Meghan Markle wore a one-shoulder green dress and had her hair in her casual signature bun, while she and Prince Harry giggled to Michael Bublés personal lyrics.

This evening outing was “different to the ball gowns and pop of colour dresses” fans are used to seeing Meghan wearing.

The fashion editor explained: “Wearing simple clothing like Meghan has here, means our eyes are drawn to Meghan Markle first and then we look at her outfit, which is always nice to see.”

Earlier this month, fans were “obsessed” with Meghan’s latest winter wardrobe as she rocked more casual attire on the slopes at Whistler ski resort.
