When it comes to furniture, I absolutely love a statement piece to add some character or a pop of colour to a room. Typically, you’ll find me scouring the likes of Marks and Spencer or Dunelm for cool yet affordable pieces, but with the launch of its up to 50% off sale, today I have my eye on Habitat, and one item ticked all the boxes when it comes to unique but liveable furnishings.
Enjoying one of the biggest discounts in the sale, Habitat’s Jesper Fabric Accent chair is certainly a bold choice, coming in mustard yellow or vibrant green. And, it’s one that shoppers rate highly. Based on previous shopper reviews, the chair currently has a 4.6 out of a possible five-star rating.
As part of Habitat’s current summer sale, the armchair (in both colours) has been slashed from its usual price of £200 to £100.
The Jesper chair is a modern take on the classic, relaxed mid-century armchair, made more contemporary by rounded edges and a simple black metal frame with wooden armrests. What really catches the eye, though, is the colour of the cushion seating area, which is made from 100% linen (the filling is foam). Both the fabric and the choice of two bright colours make this the perfect statement piece for summer (but one that will continue to brighten up a space year-round).
This aesthetic appeal has garnered the most attention from shoppers, who have left reviews, though many have also complimented its comfort.
“Great chair for the money, looks great in my contemporary gallery,” wrote one shopper in a review. Another added: “Love the chair. It’s cool and stylish.”
If you are a bit uncertain about the colour and aren’t sure if it will match with your room, you can order a free fabric sample from Habitat, which they will send directly to you.
Its size (H69, W74.5, D71cm) means that while it’s comfy and slightly reclined enough to fully relax in, it won’t take up too much space in a room. Although it does come unassembled, meaning you will need to put it together, previous shoppers claim this process is a breeze. One review said: “Lovely chairs. [I’m] happy with the purchase. [They were] easy to put together and arrived on time.”
A second added: “[I] bought two of these retro-style armchairs for a sun room. Lovely quality, well packaged, beautiful mustard yellow cushions and relatively easy to assemble.”
