A ‘hidden gem’ beach has been hailed by national travel gurus as a ‘peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life’. It might have just missed out on being named the best beach in its region, but it’s still well worth a visit.
Holiday park firm Away Resorts has curated a list of the top coastal spots in Northumberland – with the beautiful Bamburgh Beach coming out on top. The stunning coastal tourist hotspot was named “one of the most iconic in the UK”.
Coming in hot on its heels at number two was Druridge Bay.
The experts were captivated by the seven-mile stretch of sand, describing the beach as “a hidden gem along Northumberland’s coastline”.
They added: “It’s an ideal spot for beach walks year-round, birdwatching, walking, or enjoying a peaceful retreat away from the crowds.” It’s easy to get to, stretching from Amble in the north to Cresswell in the south.
Tranquil is a word that features in numerous reviews of Druridge Bay on Trip Advisor. With a near-perfect rating of 4.5, visitors have praised the beach for its serene atmosphere.
One five-star review, titled ‘peace and tranquility’, described it as an idyllic summer destination, while another reviewer raved about the crystal-clear waters, saying: “The water was so clear, you could see the bottom! We loved jumping the waves, and the waves were pretty impressive!”
The top five was completed with Embleton Bay in third place, Beadnell Bay in fourth, and Seahouses Beach in fifth.
