Stubborn mattress stains melt away ‘literally minutes after spraying’ £1.49 magic item

Mattresses are exposed to a lot of dirt from sweat, vomit, urine and in some cases food and drink stains.

While this can make the appearance dirty and rough, your mattress can also house dust mites, bed bugs and germs, affecting health issues such as asthma and allergies.

Remember that just covering your mattress with a mattress cover or protector is not enough. You need to give your mattress a regular clean and perform stain removal as and when required.

Having found a way to remove stubborn coffee and urine stains from her mattresses, one woman shared a “miracle” product.

Posting before and after photos of her mattress to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook page, Jane Mead wrote: “Omg omg omg! Saw on another page the other week about The Pink Stuff Oxi Stain Remover on stains on mattresses.

“Coffee got split on my mattress a while ago. Sprayed this on and literally minutes after spraying the mattress and wiping with a damp cloth, it was gone.

“For anyone asking, I’ve used it on the rest of my mattress from having kids and having them leak and well you know what kids are like.

“So if you doubt if it will work for whatever stain is on your bed, for £1.49 give it a try. I promise it works miracles.

“Spray on and have a bucket of cold water, don’t use warm or hot as it will give it a tinge of yellow, and just wipe away. You will need a bucket to rinse your cloth as it will become a little foamy.

“I’m drying my mattress off with a fan but if you haven’t got a fan I would recommend doing it first thing so the mattress will dry.”

Eager to know if this product would remove other stains, one woman asked about whether it worked on blood stains.

Laura Brown replied: “Yes it did on mine. I had a heavy time of the month and tried scrubbing with other cleaners but it didn’t work it just spread and made it worse, so I left it but then saw a post saying how it worked so tried it and it removed it all.

“I used a sponge with a bristle side and just sprayed it on and scrubbed, use cold water though otherwise, it will leave a yellowish mark on the mattress.”

Jane agreed but advised against leaving the product to sit for an hour. She said: “I wouldn’t leave it on for an hour. As I was spraying over it yesterday it literally melted the stains straight away.

“I literally had it on a minute before I wiped it away. For £1.49 you might as well give it a try. But use cold water as well as it will give it a yellow tinge if you use warm or hot.”

Households can pick up The Pink Stuff Oxi Stain Remover from The Range for £1.49 or from Sainsbury’s for £1.50.
