Strangest and most interesting game of 2025 is days away and only costs £25

The summer months are usually pretty quiet for new game releases, although that’s not necessarily the case in July 2025.

Donkey Kong Bananza, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 and Super Mario Party + Jamboree TV are just some of the games releasing in what’s shaping up to be a memorable July.

One of the strangest and most interesting games in recent memory is also launching in July, as Pac-Man reimagining Shadow Labyrinth makes its debut on July 17.

As you can see from the trailer above, Shadow Labyrinth is a slightly bizarre take on the Pac-Man franchise, featuring a darker, grittier art style and 2D platforming elements.

The lead character is accompanied by an orb named Puck, and can even be transported into more traditional Pac-Man style maze sections during the course of the adventure.

While it’s certainly not the biggest, most high-profile release of the year, it’s a strange twist on the Pac-Man formula and a game that is likely to gain a cult following in the years ahead.

The price tag is also appealing, costing just £24.99 on the PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch (and Switch 2), and PC.

There is also a Digital Deluxe Edition, which comes with a digital artbook and soundtrack.

Pre-order customers will also receive an additional set of sound effects, which transform the SFX into the original Pac-Man arcade sounds.

“Shadow Labyrinth is a 2D action platformer and a genre-twisting alternate take on the iconic PAC-MAN,” reads the official description.

“As Swordsman No. 8, awoken by a floating yellow orb, PUCK, on a mysterious planet amidst relics of wars past, you are chosen to become the instrument of its will.

“To survive you will discover many secrets, consume your enemies, and grow from prey to the apex predator as you embrace your true purpose.”
