Storm Henk LIVE: Millions to face New Years Eve chaos as Met Office issues 'severe' alert

Millions of Brits are set to face New Year’s Eve chaos as Met Office issues a severe alert as Storm Henk batters the UK with high winds and tornados.

Ahead of New Year’s Eve the Met Office has put in place a yellow wind warning across the southeast and southwest of England. In an update, they said: “Gales or severe gales in association with heavy showers may lead to disruption to transport and infrastructure.”

They added that “delays to road, rail, air, and ferry transport are likely” and that “some short-term loss of power and other services is possible”.

The Met Office’s wind warning came just after a brutal tornado smashed into a UK town and an image on social media appeared to show a squall line crossing near the Isle of Wight.
