Weather maps have forecast a monster jet stream over the UK as the country is thought to be in store for 75mph gales and rain in days.
A WXCharts map generated on February 18 suggests rain will fall over what seems to be nearly the whole of the UK, with the East Midlands, East Anglia and the South East of England escaping on Sunday at 12pm.
More or less the entirety of the west of Scotland will also be affected by the heavy precipitation, maps suggest.
High wind gusts are also predicted the same day, affecting particularly the area in and around Teesside and the north east of Scotland.
In addition, the west coast of Wales looks to be in for harsh winds, as well as the Isle of Man and the tip of England’s south west region.
Dark patches are also spread across many areas of northern England.
The rest of the country is covered in red and yellow, which means wind speeds of between 50 and 75mph.
A different chart suggests that rain will hit the south west of England, including Devon, nearly all of Wales and the Lake District on Monday at midnight.
The Met Office has advised residents of “severe gales” in its long-range forecast.
As regards Sunday to Tuesday, experts said: “The start of this period will be unsettled, with heavy rain and strong winds affecting all parts as a deep area of low pressure crosses just to the north of the UK.
“Gales or severe gales are likely around coasts, especially in the north and west. It will be very mild though. Next week and into early March is uncertain.
“It is possible that further spells of mild, wet and windy weather affect the UK, interspersed with cooler, showery conditions, but there is also a chance that drier, more settled conditions develop, especially towards the south of the UK.
“Temperatures are likely to be close to or a little above average overall, although should drier, more settled conditions develop, then nights may become colder with a risk of frost.”
