Storm Floris threatens to wreak havoc in hours with an amber “danger to life” wind weather warning in place. Brutal gusts of up to 70mph are expected to hammer many parts of Scotland. Wind speeds are “likely” to reach 80 to 90mph on some exposed coasts, hills and bridges, according to the Met Office.
The forecaster has issued amber warnings for much of Scotland, lasting from 10am to 10pm on Monday (August 4). A yellow warning for wind had already been issued for northern parts of the UK from 6am on the same day to 6am on Tuesday.
